Dear Sir or Madam,
dear Saare friends,

after we had transferred the new Saare 47 from Estonia to Eckernförde in just under 3 days right after midsummer, we are now back in Estonia.
We had long considered whether we wanted to go to the Kattegat and Skagerrak, but then decided to go to the northeast of the Baltic Sea for several reasons. The weather is usually better and more consistent here, the ports are not as full and the hospitality is greater in Finland and the Baltic States.
This time we sailed through the archipelago via Sweden. From the northern tip of Öland / Byxelkrog we sailed for 8 days without any contact with land, spent every night in beautiful anchorages and enjoyed the summer in the best weather.
We then sailed to Estonia via Utö in the Finnish southern archipelago and Örö. Of course we were in Koiguste and are now in Kuressaare.
Now there is a meeting with some of the shipyard’s employees, not to carry out repairs, but for a photo opportunity with the local press.
There were no problems with the new ship on more than 1,400 nautical miles on the Baltic Sea. Only the display of the wind measuring system needs to be replaced, as it keeps breaking down. Otherwise, everything is working perfectly and our innovative energy concept has proven itself to be very effective.

From the shipyard:

The next Saare 41.2 will be ready soon. The customer from Great Britain is already looking forward to getting his ship. The Saare is to be delivered by sea at the beginning of October.

The first of the three Saare 38.2 is now under construction, we will start with the second in mid-September. You are welcome to visit the shipyard at any time, it is always exciting to watch the Saare yacht being built.

Review: Squadron trip 2022

In the summer of 2022 we sailed the big squadron trip with up to 12 Saare yachts from Eckernförde to Kuressaare on the island of Saaremaa in Estonia. Originally, more Saare yachts wanted to take part, but then canceled for various reasons. After Russia’s attack on Ukraine in February, we also considered whether it was wise to sail so close to Kaliningrad, but then stuck to our plan in consultation with the participants.
For two weeks we traveled from Eckernförde via Gedser / DK, Sassnitz on Rügen, two ports in Poland and then on via Kleipeda / Lithuania, Liepāja and Ventspils in Latvia to Estonia. In total, the trip was around 645 nautical miles long.

There were many highlights, the shared meal in the hotel restaurant on the beach in Leba / Poland was one of them, but the subsequent trip over 135 nautical miles, starting at 9:30 p.m., was also a very special experience. With a strong wind from astern at first, but then increasing, and very considerable sea conditions, this trip from Leba to Kleipeda in Lithuania, past the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad, was very special in many ways. The wind was not the problem, but rather gave all the yachts a fast journey; the high waves coming from astern and occasionally crossing each other were exhausting.

Our small fleet was certainly being closely observed by the Russians, but NATO and its units on the Swedish side were also surely keeping an eye on us.

The full moon night from Ventspils in Latvia was particularly beautiful, where we set off at 5 p.m., across the Bay of Riga to the beautiful natural harbor of Koiguste on the Estonian island of Saaremaa. All of the Saare yachts arrived there in quick succession between 3 and 4 a.m. in the early morning hours.

After a shared breakfast and a few hours of sleep, the afternoon was followed by a visit from many of the shipyard’s employees, who, together with their families, visited the Saare yachts over coffee and cake.

One of the absolute highlights was the big Saare party in the evening. Sponsored by the Saare Yachts OÜ shipyard, there was a delicious buffet including lukewarm, freshly smoked perch. An Estonian music group played until late after midnight, cold beer and later a delicious gin and tonic got even the cool northern Germans singing – it was a great night.

The next day there were only 25 nautical miles left to sail to Kuressaare. The community budget allowed for another meal together in the Kurhaus Restaurant and the following Monday everyone was invited to a tour of the shipyard.

It was a fantastic trip, the weather was mixed, the stages were quite sporty and challenging, but the best thing was the great camaraderie and the atmosphere among the participants.

Saare 41ac

For many years we have sold the Saare 41ac well, sailed it in a relaxed manner and with good performance on several regattas and long trips and have constantly developed it further.
This development then continued into the new Saare 41.2, even more comfortable, even safer and even more user-friendly for small crews or for single-handed sailing and even more consistently geared towards two- or four-person crews. But we also continue to build the three-cabin version of the Saare 41ac.

YACHT tested the Saare 41ac extensively in 2013 and praised it highly. As far as we know, this is the best test of a sailing yacht of all time. There were only positive comments in the evaluation, not a single negative.

Test in the Yacht journal – GERMAN ONLY

We are still sailing in the north with our Saare 47 and we hope that you too have a great time sailing.

Enjoy the late summer on the Baltic Sea or wherever you are.
