Saare sailing yachts are elegant cruising yachts and at home on all seas. Perfect craftsmanship in a real, small yacht shipyard, the very best materials, sensible and practical equipment and an open, trusting cooperation with our customers are the outward expression of traditional values. This is how very special yachts are created in cooperation with our designer in Finland, the creative team in Germany and the shipyard crew in Estonia.

The shipyard

Saare Yachts OÜ is just a small yacht builder, we build around 5 to 6 yachts per year ranging in size from 38 to 46 feet. We also build the Saare H-Boat in our shipyard in Estonia.

The Saare yachts have been developed and built since 2008. Before that, the shipyard had built more than 220 complete sailing yachts for the Finnish Finngulf shipyard for 13 years

Your island

Our shipyard is located on the island of Saaremaa, the Estonian boat building center. There in Kuressaare is also the vocational school for boat builders and a department of the technical university for ship and boat building.

Saaremaa is the fourth largest island in the Baltic Sea. Translated, Saaremaa means island. A Saare yacht is your own personal island.

The staff

Almost 30 boat builders, electricians, mechanics, GRP specialists and carpenters work in the shipyard. Many of them have been with us for decades.

Kalle Joevere, head of the carpentry section, has been with the company since 2005. Janek Aedmäe, head of plastic construction, has been with us since 1998. Our 1st mechanic, Ivo Jöevere, started at the shipyard in 2006.

The constructor

All Saare yachts are designed and calculated by the Finn “Kamu” Karl Johan Strahlman.

He knows the shpyard and had built more than 220 complete Finngulf yachts together for over 13 years when he developed the first Saare in 2008. Kamu Strahlmann is also the designer of Finnflyer yachts and has designed many other boats and yachts.

The manager of the shipyard

Peeter Sääsk has been employed as Managing Director at Saare Yachts OÜ, or rather the predecessor company Saare Paat AS, since 1997. He has a technical engineering degree.

Together with his team from accounting, the purchaser, the technical operations manager and the work preparation and documentation employee, he is responsible for all processes and the entire operation in Estonia.

He is also responsible for the sale of Saare yachts in the Baltic States and Russia. He speaks Estonian, English and Russian.

Yachtsport Eckernförde                    

Thomas Nielsen, the owner of Yachtsport Eckernförde, has represented the Estonian shipyard’s yachts in Central Europe as a dealer since 2008. The Eckernförde company made the Saare yachts well-known in Europe and quickly achieved great success.

Saare yachts enjoy a very good reputation among sailors, owners, experts and the trade press. Test reports from magazines from all over Europe have repeatedly confirmed the first-class sailing characteristics and the very high quality.

In 2016, the Eckernförde company had the opportunity to take over the entire shipyard. 10,000 square meters of land and around 3,000 square meters of hall space were purchased. The shipyard has been renamed Saare Yachts OÜ and Peeter Sääsk and Thomas Nielsen are both managing directors of the Estonian yacht yard.

Yachtsport Eckernförde GmbH & Co. KG     

At the Eckernförde company, which has now been successful on the market for more than 30 years and has sold hundreds of sailing yachts throughout Europe and even to Japan, the continued existence of the group of companies was prepared in 2019.

The name was changed to Yachtsport Eckernförde GmbH & Co. KG and the second generation, Niels Nielsen, joined the company. In his youth, he had already done internships with a sailmaker and the water sports wholesaler Frisch in Munich, and during his studies as an industrial engineer he worked for a semester at HARKEN, the world market leader for winches and yacht fittings, in the USA. He has also gained a lot of experience in the yacht trade at countless boat shows in Germany.

Thomas Nielsen and Niels Nielsen are both managing directors in Eckernförde and therefore also owners of the shipyard in Estonia. With a lot of sailing experience on cruises, family trips, long-distance regattas and regattas in one-design classes, they are the core of the development team at Saare Yachts. However, the customers and owners of Saare Yachten have the largest share in the many good ideas on board and the permanent further development of the yachts.
